About HardWaterHQ
HardWaterHQ is a reference site for homeowners dealing with hard water problems. We publish science-based guides, city water quality reports, and practical filtration recommendations — without the fluff or the sales pressure.
Our Mission
Over 85% of U.S. homes receive hard water. Despite how common it is, most homeowners don't know their water hardness level, don't understand how it's damaging their appliances and health, and don't know how to fix it affordably.
We started HardWaterHQ to change that. Our mission is simple: give every homeowner clear, accurate, actionable information about their water quality — whether they're on municipal water or a private well, in Phoenix or Indianapolis, dealing with rust stains or eczema flare-ups.
What We Cover
- City Water Quality Reports — real hardness data, contaminant levels, and what they mean for residents in specific cities
- Health Effects — how hard water and specific contaminants affect skin, hair, digestion, and chronic conditions
- Appliance and Home Damage — how minerals degrade dishwashers, water heaters, coffee machines, and plumbing
- Well Water Problems — iron, manganese, bacteria, and other private well concerns
- Filtration Solutions — honest comparisons of water softeners, whole-house filters, RO systems, and point-of-use filters
Our Editorial Approach
Every guide on HardWaterHQ is written to answer the homeowner's actual question — not to optimize for word count or affiliate clicks. We rely on primary sources: EPA water quality data, peer-reviewed research, SCA water standards, and municipal annual water quality reports (Consumer Confidence Reports).
We don't accept payment for editorial coverage. When we recommend a product or system, it's because the evidence supports it as a good solution for the problem being discussed.
We do participate in affiliate programs to help cover the cost of running this site. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed clearly wherever affiliate links appear. You can read more in our affiliate disclosure.
